Continuing our obsessio - er - exploration of snappy/anchored connection. Face-to-face Sliding Doors, Frontside Sailor Knots, and Slingshots.
Exploring floaty and snappy movement in Shag through Upholds and Sliding Doors.
Reviving some old shine moves of ours from Back In The Day.
"Playing with the rubber band effect in Shag"
This class focused on building stretch in-place and releasing it on the quick-quick. Applied to pass-by turns in Open position and Sliding Doors (with entrances out of Side-by-Side and Open). We also noted the Lindy Hop import of moving backward to create stretch, in contrast to Shag's mechanics preferring to build stretch in place.
"Find your internal lightness and float across the floor"
This class focused on Shag mobility in closed position. We covered the Lilt and different expressions of Jig Kicks, adding motion to everything.

Theme: Keeping it light! Review of closed and SxS basics. Slips, jig kicks, combining jig kicks and slips. Sorry about the resolution! Noted to not record from Zoom anymore. We’re switching to recaps instead of uploading entire lessons. Easier logistically for folks who don’t want to be recorded.
Oops! All Side by Side.

Camel kicks (because everything and their mother is already named cross kicks)
Collegiate kicks
Progressive (repeated camel kicks)
Collegiate kicks rhythm variations
Bonus: balanced Collegiate Kicks rotation for follows (h/t Jeron Tuell)
Sliding doors & Skates! Including some fun and more challenging variations on skates.
All about Camel Hops! Forgive the awkward start, we had to cut out part of the beginning since the POV kept switching between us and the virtual students. We covered one-arm and two-arm Camel Hops in the first half, and how to do pass-bys and free spins out of them in the second
All about compression!
Compression turns (single + double)
Compression-prep into skates in SxS
